A Free Credit Report With No Credit Card Numbers - Can It Be True?
A free credit report with no credit card numbers? Is that possible? There are quite a few online ads for free credit reports, but when you click on them, they want your credit card number or they want you to do some trial deal. So, are there really services out there that will give you a free credit report without requiring your credit card number? The good news is that you can receive your credit report without having to use a credit card.
Due to the importance of people knowing their credit score, a free credit report with no credit card numbers is now possible thanks to an amendment made to the Fair Credit Reporting Act by the government. The amendment says that all United States citizens can obtain a copy of their credit report for free from all three reporting agencies, Equifax, Experian, and Trans Union. There are two ways that you can obtain your free credit report. You can go online and print off a form, then mail it to the Annual Credit Report Request Service. The Annual Credit Report Request Service will then provide you with your credit report. You can also mail a letter requesting a copy of your credit report and a copy of your photo identification to each of the three credit reporting agencies in order to receive a free credit report with no credit card numbers. Through Experian you can receive your free credit report under the federal law or a trw free credit report. Make sure that you read all of the instructions on receiving the trw free credit report as it could end up costing you money instead of being free if you are not careful.
In Canada you can receive a free credit report also. However, there are only two reporting agencies there, Trans Union and Equifax. If you live in Canada you can write a letter requesting your credit report to both agencies. Make sure that you include a copy of your photo identification in order to get your free credit report with no credit card numbers.
