Not many know this but you may withhold payment for a disputed item on your credit card bill (not the whole credit card bill – only the item you are disputing) if the charge is $50 or more and the store is within one hundred miles of our residence or is in your state.  Before you do this, you must first attempt to resolve the billing dispute with the store the item is from and inform the credit card company in writing about the dispute.

Credit care companies won’t be able to say your account is not current when they report to reporting agencies when the dispute is in the process of being handled. Furthermore, they need to conclude the matter in 90 days or two billing cycles.The best thing to do to improve your credit rating is to check your bills for errors. Just make sure you do so in writing in order to create a paper trail.
